Here are a couple of other simple ideas you can use to create some Hollywood glamor:
  • Scatter votive candles to add brightness and sparkle throughout your rooms.
  • Give your guests top hats and tiaras to wear while they ring in the new year.
  • Add a gold charger to each of your plates to give your dishes a little more pizzazz.
  • Make sure each guest has a champagne flute filled with bubbly for when the clock strikes midnight.
Thank you for spending the month of December with us, and don't forget to check out EveryLittleDetail for more event planning ideas. Happy New Year!

What to wear with.... Orange heels

What to wear with.... Orange heels

STEFFEN SCHRAUT cap sleeve shirt / Burberry tailored shirt / Dorothy Perkins knit sweater / Herringbone jacket / Dorothy Perkins ponte skirt, $16 / Ann Taylor slim fit pants / Circa Joan & David / MICHAEL Michael Kors michael kors tote bag, $510 / Chloé two tone jewelry, $510 / Kate Spade photo engraved jewelry / C. Wonder yellow gold jewelry

I was asked for ideas on what to pair with burnt orange heels.  The first thing I thought of was no BLACK!  That automatically makes me think of Halloween!.... I would stick to more warm colors.  Maroon, oxblood, olive green, tan, brown, etc.  The outfit on the left is a dressy option for work.  Olive green herringbone blazer for $44, creme blouse and oxblood pencil skirt.  On the right is more casual, for work or play.  A plaid button down with that hint of orange in the pattern, and the corduroy pants color from Loft is called Deep Veranda, its a deep green and would work perfectly.  I would throw on a creme colored sweater if you don't want a ton of plaid showing.  I kept the accessories simple... you want to let the shoes do the popping for these outfits.
Hope this helps suggest some ideas on what to wear with these shoes!
Have a great Xmas everyone!!!!

Leopard and leather- Work Appropriate

Leopard and leather

Old Navy animal print sweater / Charter Club / GAP knit tight / Fergalicious / Bakers zipper bag / Chain bracelet / Kate Spade earrings

Today I chose a work appropriate way to wear the new hotness, leather.  The skirt is a great length for the office and I paired this with a cute Old Navy leopard sweater.  I kept the jewelry basic because I didn't want it looking too over the top.  The sweater can be paired with jeans on the weekend or the skirt can be paired with sexy open toed shoes for a night out on the town.  Either way, you're sticking on trend, and look super stylish!
What do you think??  Will you be dabbling in the new trend?

Kids Holiday Party- Linkup with Event19

We're at our 3rd week linking up with Event19.  Below are some ideas how to entertain your kids during the holiday parties!

Most of the time we spend the holiday's catching up with friends and family, but what do the kids do while we are endlessly chatting away? Let me guess... they are either sitting in front of the TV, zoning out, or staring at us completely bored, wondering when they can do something somewhat exciting.

So this year, why not have a fun activity planned for them? Maybe it's decorating their own Christmas tree ornaments or holiday frame. Or you can make your own personal gingerbread house. This is our favorite and has been a tradition in our household for years. It's very simple; all you need is some graham crackers, icing, and candy. The kids will be occupied decorating (and eating) for hours!

Oh, and here is one more thing that will sweeten the party for both the kids and adults... a hot chocolate bar. Now who doesn't love that?!

Ohhh man, that Hot Chocolate Bar is a MUST in my book! Want to see more great party ideas, check out Event19.

Gym Holiday Party

Gym Holiday Party

Zara short dress / Old Navy jersey top / GAP low rise jeans / GAP opaque stocking / Vince Camuto platform booties / Lipstik black strappy sandals, $84 / ALDO handbag / Dorothy Perkins / GUESS jewelry / Gorjana jewelry / Long earrings

Depending on if you want to go more casual or a little dressier, I thought of 2 ideas.  Sequins are big right now, so this silver sweater from Old Navy for $24 is a no brainer!  Pair it with some boyfriend jeans, and some dressy stilettos, and you have yourself a super cute outfit for your Gym Holiday party!
If you want to be a little more dressy, this Zara dress with a gold chain necklace def makes a statement.  "I don't always wear tank tops and sports bras, I can clean up pretty dang nice outside the gym".  Black tights and black booties for winter and statement clutch.... HOT!
Let me know what you're thinking about wearin!!

Holiday Party with Friends Linkup-Naughty or Nice

Today's linkup is all about partying with friends.  Event19 def knows how to throw a great partyHere are just some of their ideas:

Welcome Back! This week's posting is all about giving you some unique ideas for your upcoming holiday party with friends!

We love planning "friends only" parties because it allows us to be as CRAZY as we want to be. So as we sat around thinking about what to do this year, we kept on coming back to the same question; do we tone it down a bit this year since we are getting wiser (but not older), or do we make this a year to remember. Um...why not do both and have a Naughty and Nice party. Don't know how to play both sides of the coin? Then read on.

Invitations  - you need to send your friends something so they know when to mark their calendar for your soirée; and while they are at it, they can mark who they thought was Naughty or Nice this year with this personalized card from eInvite.

Desserts - Let's be Nice and leave some cookies out. You can also buy chocolates or truffles that you can label "coal" (only for those Naughty boys and girls).

Drinks - Since this is a Naughty and Nice party, we will not be having milk with our cookies; instead, we will be serving up some sweet adult beverages. Candy Cane Cocktail anyone?

Gifts - To make the party a little bit more exciting, have a greedy grab bag. Haven't heard of this? Basically each person brings a gift worth x amount (you decide on the amount), then each person takes a turn to pick a gift; they can choose either a wrapped gift or they can steal one that someone has already opened.

Want more ideas? Visit EveryLittleDetail.

Hope you enjoyed today's linkup!  Check back next week for more holiday ideas!!

A Day of Errands

A Day of Errands

GAP / Skinny pants / Ballet shoes / Handle bag / Forever 21 rhinestone jewelry / Stella & Dot knot necklace

Yesterday should have been a day of running much needed errands, but instead I chose to sit my fat a$$ on the couch until it was time to visit friends later in the afternoon.  If I did run those errands, this is what I would have wore haha.  Leopard with a pop of teal-ish/mint (that's a color in my book).  Loving this Stella&Dot tassel necklace, def on my wishlist for Xmas!!

Office Holiday Party- Link-up with Event19

This week's posts are all about the office holiday party. Regardless if you want to learn how to glam up your outfit without going too overboard; or if you need some ideas on how to create a memorable work event, we have you covered.

Today's link-up post with Event19 is all about how you can jazz up your upcoming office holiday party. We know that this can be a challenge for a lot of people, so read on to learn how to make it fun, yet still professional.

First step: you have to ask yourself is where do you want to host this shindig? Do you want to keep it low-key and budget friendly by holding it in your office, or do you want to break out of the monotonous office environment and go to a local restaurant? Regardless what you do, have some fun; decorate it with holiday cheer.

Second step: figure out what you want to serve your group. Do you want to have a buffet, or plated meal? Or maybe you just want to serve cocktails and appetizers? Oh, and let's not forget about the dessert (the best part of the meal). Why not contact a local bakery and have these scrumptious cupcakes made?

Final step (probably the most important): think about how to make the party stand out and be remembered. Maybe you bring in a photo booth. Coworkers can take group pictures that they can display at their desk all year round. Or maybe you hire an outside gaming company and set up an activity like a casino night, where you can play to win raffle tickets. These raffle tickets can be used to win prizes like a iPad, flat-screen tv, gift certificates, etc. (we did both, the photo booth and casino night at our office holiday party last year, and it was a huge hit)!

Can't get enough of these entertaining ideas; then visit EveryLittleDetail.

Hope you enjoyed the 1st week of our December Link-up!  Follow along each week for other Holiday planning and outfit ideas!!  Also, check out my outfit posts on Event19's blog each Friday of December!

Stayin Stylish in a cold office

Stayin Stylish in a cold office

Knit shirt / Mango cotton pants / Zara multicolor shoes / Marc by Marc Jacobs cross body shoulder bag / Earrings / Alice + Olivia round scarve

After eating my face off this weekend, I chose to wear all black with some pop of color.  It's freezing in my office and since I have no control of the thermostat, I have no choice but to bundle up.  I threw on a infinity scarf, winged the eyeliner and chose these shoes as my pop!
What did you choose to wear to work after a long weekend of eating?
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

What to Wear with.....red polka dot skinnies!

What to Wear with.....red polka dot skinnies!

J.Crew anchor shirt / Knit top / Old Navy striped boatneck sweater / Old Navy stretch jeans / Frye stacked heel / Steve Madden shoes / Cheetah ballet flat / Cl by laundry / Old Navy print shoes / Nina bridal necklace / K. Amato

A reader asked what to wear with her new red polka dot skinnies.  Here is a sample of what I would pick for her consultation.  Depending on where you're going, I paired different shoes with each outfit.  Basic flats for the more shy, fun print flats for the more daring and then black wedges if you want to dress it up, and riding boots for a more winter look.  Love the green necklace for that pop of color, and loving the cobalt blue sweater to break up the pattern of polka dots.  Another option with these pants, you can also go with a basic white top and add a striped infinity scarf.

Enjoy!

Winning Thanksgiving outfit is.......

Thanks everyone for their input both on Facebook and on the blog.  I've decided to go with outfit #4.  I think I will be most comfortable in this outfit and also after thinking it, I don't want to be over dressed.  I think when you are going to get-together, you have to think about who is hosting.  Does this person always make it a fancy affair, or is it more laid back/casual.  We're headed to my brother's house for Turkey Day, and they are a very laid back couple.  So, if the hostess with the mostess will be wearing jeans, then I'm not showing up in outfit #3. Ya dig?

If you want to see the options again, you can go here: 1, 2, 3, 4

Hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving and safe travels!!

Thanksgiving outfit possibility- Option 4

Thanksgiving outfit possibility

360 Sweater / Mango racer back tank top / H&M low jeans, $16 / Wet Seal boots / Bakers zipper bag / Stella & Dot bracelets jewelry / Stella & Dot

Ok, this is the final option.  I'm leaning more towards this one.  It's super comfortable, perfect for my long car ride, and still looks "on point".  I just found similar booties at Old Navy on Clearance for $14.97, hollarrrrrrr!  love a great deal!  The Stella & Dot jewelry is super cute, sometimes pricey, so I only shop the sales.  Love this bangle and I will be stalking it until the price drops!
What do you think of this one?? Did you like 1, 2, 3 or this 4th one best??

Thanksgiving outfit possibility- Option 3

Thanksgiving outfit possibility- Option 3

Short sleeve knit dress / Elizabeth and James / GAP tall legging / LOFT pointed toe pumps / Urban expressions handbag / Post earrings / Forever 21 rhinestone jewelry / Bracelets bangle

Here is a 3rd option.  I wanted to add a dressier option in case I felt like putting a little more effort in, the day of.  I'm loving the price of this dress from Target!  I put it with a navy blazer and added a mint arm party and fancy studs!  The color of this purse looks great with the navy and gray.  A subtle pink lip and I'll be good to go!
Side note: This purse and mint bangles will be perfect for Spring also, just pair it with lighter color outfits.
What do you think of this option?  or do you love option 1 or 2 better??

Thanksgiving outfit possibility- Option 2

Thanksgiving outfit possibility

GAP cable knit poncho / Pocket shirt / Ponte pants / Bakers studded flat shoes / H&M , $32 / Charm pendant / C. Wonder yellow gold earrings

For this outfit option, I am looking more towards comfort.  The loose cream blouse, and then the cozy poncho over... that will cover my ginormous belly I will have after eating tons of good food!  A long pendant will hang down and give you some shape so you don't look as wide as you are tall.  Add a red lip and you look put together.  So, what about this one??  Do you love it!?!?

Thanksgiving Outfit Possibility

Thanksgiving Outfit Possibility

LOFT crop top / Herringbone jacket / LOFT ankle pants / Flat shoes / ALDO clutch purse / Tory Burch / Juicy Couture

Trying to figure out if I want to dress up a little for Turkey day, or go casual.  I'm going to take you with me for a few days til I figure it out.  These ankle pants are on sale and I'm loving the color... pair with darker colors/thicker materials for Fall, and lighter colors/materials for Spring.  Since I will be at my brother's house, and most likely playing with the kids... I decided to go with flats.  I would add this herringbone blazer if it's super cold... and might not wear an everyday purse, might use a special one instead......
ok, until tomorrow's outfit.... what do you think of this one?

Holiday Travel in Style

LOFT poncho top / GAP / GAP tall legging / Chinese Laundry over knee boots / Talbots post earrings / Pier 1 Imports pearl necklace / kate spade new york 'carlisle street' passport holder

The Holidays are coming up fast, and with them are tons of travel.  Long car rides, plane rides or however you are getting to your destination, do it in style....
Don't put on sweats and think you're good.  This outfit is a perfect example of how you can be comfortable, but yet, still look put together.  Throw on a fashionable necklace and a pair of flat boots with your cozy, yet chic outfit and instantly look effortless.

Moms: Ready for the park

Cowl neck poncho / LOFT slouchy pants / ALDO shoes / Wet Seal cross body handbag / Style & Co. style co watch / Marc by Marc Jacobs marc jacob

Moms you can head to the park in style.  Throw on your favorite poncho, colored crop pant, cross-body bag, studs and go.  No more sweats out of the house, unless you're headed to the gym.  Skinny jeans would work too.  Just selected any old stroller, so don't go bananas.  Loving these aldo flats too, priced right and the color is very "Fall-esq".

Meeting up with a lady friend?? Dinner? walking around the mall? (I don't dare say shopping) Movie?  This outfit is super casual but works as a great "put together, not trying too hard" look.  Love these boots and the watch and something about a fitted thermal gets me every time......

Meeting: Leopard and Tangerine

Leopard and Tangerine

LOFT long sleeve blouse / LOFT cheetah print skirt / GAP / ASOS boots / Satchel bag / Yellow gold bracelet / Yellow gold jewelry / Banana Republic

I have a meeting tomorrow and put this outfit together.  Wanted to show some personality with leopard and metal cap booties, but still be professional with the button down, and tights.  Tuck the blouse in and add a black skinny belt for an even better look.

Stylish Soccer Mom

Stylish Soccer Mom

H&M chiffon top, $12 / LOFT twill pants / Bakers shoes / Bakers printed bag / La Mer red jewelry / Dana Buchman button jewelry

Headed to your son/daughter's game?.... don't show up looking like "who-dunit".  This is an easy outfit to put together to look effortless and stylish, like you just left the office and just made to the game in time.  Bought these flats for one of my girlfriends and she loves them, comfortable while still looking chic.  Keeping on trend with the oxblood color for Fall.

Mens: Lunch Date

BKE bootcut jeans / Hurley Weep Tee / BKE Raleigh Sweater / Hurley Bowery Wool Jacket / Michael Kors MK8040 - Mens Chronograph / Hurley Puerto Rico 2.0 Hat / Keen Santa Cruz Gargoyle - Zappos.com Free Shipping BOTH Ways

This is a perfect outfit if you are meeting a special someone for lunch.  Pull together jeans and T-shirt while hanging out at home, then throw on a zip up sweater, these shoes and head out.  If you don't feel like doing your hair, rock a nicer baseball hat (a beanie would work too).

Workday/Weekend Sweater dress

Workday/Weekend Sweaterdress

Old Navy tailored shirt / GAP slim pants / Fergalicious high heels / n.d.c. n.d.c shoes / Wet Seal western booties / H&M , $24 / Post earrings / Givenchy necklace / Gap Multi Striped Sweater Dress / Chinese Laundry Tremendous | Piperlime

I had someone ask me how to wear a sweater dress for work, and then wear the same one casually on the weekend.  I chose this striped one because it's one of my favorites.  But pretty much any sweater dress can be worn for either, if paired with the right shoes and accessories.  Toss a button down on and a faux pearl bunch necklace and it instantly dresses it up.  Add dressier shoes and you are ready for work.  Change to boots/booties, an infinity scarf and some studs and you are ready for a movie/ shopping/ weekend fun!

Enjoy!
